Photographic simulations are an excellent tool to show what a design could look and feel like. These impressions by Miller Hare show the Dixon Jones scheme for Exhibition Road, a project designed to improve access for all to this incredibly important and busy central London street.

The simulations show that improvements to area include:
* better lighting
* new tree planting
* public art
* resurfacing using high-quality paving materials
* new street furniture
The image on the left shows the southern, bottom end of Exhibition Road. Here the street will be partially pedestrianised to give a café culture feel to the area. The whole project is due to be completed in time for the 2012 Olympics.
As part of the project a new traffic layout is now in place around South Kensington and repaving work has created new areas of public space around the busy Underground station. The project has attracted international attention and support has not only come from the partners but also from several accessibility and disability organisations such as Living Streets and Whizz Kidz, as well as English Heritage.
